Frosty Drew Observatory | Milky Way | RI

One of my local photographer buddies convinced me to head out to Frosty Drew Observatory last night to shoot the milky way. I've never visited here, but the skies are incredibly dark considering it's location. No, not as dark and beautiful as the skies in Eastern Maine, but it's the best I can do when I'm down here in CT.

P.S., My f4 zoom isn't really cutting it... I need a 2.8!

Looking pretty dark to me! Rather than picking up a 2.8, maybe the Roki 24mm 1.4? I've been wanting to pick One up for a while now

I've also thought about that. My problem is that it's difficult to justify a lens purchase for something that I shoot once or twice a year, ya know?

Really nice. I like both of them. I do wish the second had a little more contrast in the sky, but that's just personal taste.

Thanks! On my phone it looks a bit too purple/contrasty, but I'll report back when I check it on a calibrated monitor. I honestly was unsure how much contrast I wanted in this shot.

Number #1 is nice! What's going on in #2?
Definitely pick up a Rokinon 14 or 24 when you can afford it. Either lens will change everything.

I like it. I'd like it more if the observatory were vertical in the shot, though, but I do like it as it is.

The sky is gorgeous, but I agree with the previous comments about the leaning observatory. The fence on the left is also an eye sore.
I much prefer the sharp image in the 1st picture over the 10 minute exposure (as the observatory is less of the focus of the image).

Also, could you desaturate the red levels without taking colors away from the sky? That might be nice in the 1st image.
