Full frame DSLR's have a huge sensor, equivalent to those of film cameras (36×24 mm). Others have small sensors... The usual entry level DSLR's have a APS-C crop sensor.

They are by no means "huge" they are just the same size as a 35mm negative, and 35mm is considered a small film format.

Now this is a "huge sensor"
