Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I figured my 1000th post should at least have photos in it and not spam. :)

Latest session with my niece. She did not like being in the grass at all so smiles outside were few. I'm not as happy with these as I am other shots I've taken recently. I feel like I've hit a bit of plateau - so please - tear them apart! I want suggestions on what I can do better. I already know proper framing is on the list. :-P

5- hate that I clipped her elbow but loved that she almost looks like she's measuring herself - too bad I couldn't get her to look at the camera:er:

Thanks for looking and once again - CC me to death!

her face is #1 is adorable.
#3 and #6 are my favorite.
The cropping on # 4 seems funny to me. because not only is her head cut off, but her ear on the other side as well. It just does not seem balanced.

all in all though, you got some good stuff.

The third one is so sweet! Great capture. Thank you for sharing these.

Thanks everyone! I really like #3 too and I can't wait to show that one to her mom.

Christina - yeah I wish I hadn't been so close to her on #4 but I love her expression too much to scrap it.

Thanks for the comments!

What a cute baby - you've definately got some cute angles here but how much PP have you applied to these? I think you have a few color casts and from her skin it looks like the unsharp mask may be in overuse. What if you show one SOOC? I think you have nive images but have possibly overprocessed them. Number 3 is freakign ADORABLE, perfect. :)

If you want to see a different one let me know. And feel free to edit. I do use unsharp mask a lot to defog. Usually around a 20-35-0 range.

Keep in mind I don't have my monitor back yet so I'm not sure if the edit appears flat. Its really difficult to edit with a monitor form the early 90's! ;)
I think if you have a curves option and you play around with different amounts of unsharp mask you'll find you don't need to much defog. The defog I did on yours was 14,40,0

Also keep in mind that I have no idea what the actual skinotne of the child is but I would think its closer to the color in the outdoor ones rather than the indoor tone presented. She may be more pink than this but you could play with that. Did you shoot in RAW?

Yeah, I did shoot in raw. That is a great edit - did you do anything to her skin? I like the softness of the whole image. She is slightly more tan than that but that is pretty close to her skin tone. I think I'm going to have to reprocess some of these.

I don't mind at all NJ. That is a nice edit too but I think I am drawn more to the softness of jimmyjaceymom's. Thanks for the input!

WOW JimmyJaceyMom that edit is amazing!! Can you tell us EXACTLY what you did there?

I LOVE #3!!! I love the edits of JimmyJaceyMom. Great shots

Okay let me think. I first opened up levels to see the histogram where i used the middle slider and moved it slightly to the right to brighten it jsut a little bit since it was already reading that it was exposed well.
I really like a brighter image with children so i used the curves tool just te default plus 'increase brightness'. I then used the sharpen tool over the whole eye to give it that 'glassy look' that I like but isnt too popular (lol) then I ran a defog (14,40,0) and when it was all done, since I like babies skin to look sweet and soft, I did the noise reduction (in my ps elements 6) at 8, 25,0.

^^^ Thanks for the info! I'll have to give all that a go tomorrow.
