Hello guys, I am a beginner in photography so tell me what do you think. I know some of the photos are not so good, that's because I am new and I was just playing around with the settings. ;) I am using a compact digital camera CASIO EX-Z400, I don't know if I should go on the next step and buy a D-SLR camera, if so, which one?

I got quite a lot of photos here (there were more but they were not so good) and some of the photos had wrong dates lol.

If the pictures are 'not so good', what about them would you like us to critique?

I don't like your slanted pictures, the slant doesn't make much sense.

Can you go back through, and just post the two or three that you think are the best of the best, and number them? It would make it a lot easier to focus on specifics.

Okay, well you won't get as good of a critique. None of them struck me as incredible, the focus seems soft in most, and the lighting seems very harsh. Can you go through and tell me what the subject was in each one? Most of them aren't clear as to what the picture was supposed to be of.

Yes I feel that most of them lack a real subject, and that they don't provide a place for me to rest. I like the first of the two with lens flare. It's pretty awesome. One thing to experiment with is exposure. Make sure they aren't over-exposed. Me, I tend to under-expose a stop or two to bring out colours. I probably do it too much though.

I agree with the lack of subjects in some of the photos, especially in photo #5, #7 and #11. But it was really hard to find a subject in that field.. I would say the best three is probably #1, #8 and #15.

I would suggest you to:

As a newbie like ME, learn this forum rules!
When you want a critique and coment, write : C&C : Your title
When creating a new thread, post at a maximun of 3 of yours favorites photos! (Remember that you are here asking free advises and inserting more than that, will make most of the users to past to others threads, since this is too much work.)
Always, be gentle
NEVER charge someone for Photographs, if you are not ready and if you have not learnt anything.

And the most important rule I've learnt:

The fact that you have a camera, doesn't mean that you are a photographer!

Either way, welcome!

Nope, not yet. I will check it out. But am I really that bad lol?
Yes, but the issue is you're just uneducated at this point. Next week, you can't still say that, because you've been provided information on visual image composition now.

The guideline to learn that will have the most immediate positive impact on your photos is the rule-of-thirds (ROT) and learning when to turn the camera to the vertical frame orientation.
