Geese Portraits

Nice shots. Geese are cool birds.

We have many resident geese here but in the winter they are everywhere there is water. I used to go to a wildlife refuge near where I lived at the time to photograph them. During the winter months there were so many that the water looked carpeted with them. Thousands upon thousands of them as far as I could see in any direction, and more overhead.

Thank Scott. Geese are cool and from what I understand can be aggressive sometimes but I have not experienced that. One was taking food from a lady's hand. I thought it was cute but not sure if that's such a good thing for the birds safety.

They can be aggressive but it's meaningless aggression. The place I used to work had a lake around the building and we always had ducks and geese around. I got in the habit of feeding them every morning and they would eat out of my hand. Occasionally one would get a bit aggressive and bite my hand, but they don't have teeth so it meant nothing ;) They would also lower their heads and charge but if I just stood where I was they would stop a few feet away and get a real confused look on their face, like "You were supposed to run!"

We've got tons of geese on campus. Every couple of years, there's a campaign to do something to scare them away but it never works. I'm glad they don't work because I just love 'em; they're such silly creatures and they always put a smile on my face.

Great portraits :)

Nice shots. Just wondering did you pay him/her to pose or was it TFP? lol
