Anybody ever buy a generic 3rd party grip for the D90? Just not willing to spend what some stores around here have them listed at for the Nikon MB-D80 ($299)

I found a generic D90 battery grip that comes with a wireless remote and two 3rd party batteries all for $80. You guys think it is worth it? Guy says they are new.

Edit: Just saw some on ebay for like $55

The generic grips have limited capabilities compared to the OEM grip. Be sure to check all the specs before you buy one.

Good luck.

Such as?

I had the Zeikos brand and it worked great, never had a single problem with it. I did end up selling it to get the Nikon version, but honestly it wasn't necessary.

I ordered the Zeikos grip from amazon and 2nd day the little battery door latch broke right off. I am sure mine was a lemon which happens as heard good things on the this grip. But weird was amazon would do a replacement exchange and just gave the money back. So took the monies and picked up the Nikon version MB-D80 on craigslist used for $90.
.

Is your D90 still in warranty?

Good point, yes it is, still has a year left...i believe it is a 2 year warranty

U can buy a used md-80 grip on bay for less then 100.

That said, I've used generic grips on both my d200 and d700, with no problems

I use a Zeikos also for the last 2 years and love it! No problems
