Genuine and Imposter

No walk today -- severe weather is brewing up across the Midwest and I had to settle for some photos in my wife's garden. She has a dozen different roses; this simple one is my favorite. In between the wind gusts I got a snapshot of an open flower and a bud. Then I snapped a photo of a primrose just before the first drops of rain. Primroses don't survive rain very well.

Picture #3 has the strongest composition, and is nicely exposed. Picture #2 has a super subject nicely composed and exposed. It's the background that hurts the over all composition. For my personal tastes, I would have prefered to have it more out of focus for a softer over all effect.
