I am planning a trip there in the following weekend and would like to know if they allow tripods. I cannot find any info on this on their websites. If anyone knows, please let me know so I can pack accordingly. Also if I can't bring a normal tripod, how about a gorilla-pod?

Thanks!

The problem with a gorilla-pod is going to be finding a place for attachment.

I am not sure about the tripod, however, I am not sure it will be helpful, those darn fish just don't stay in the same spot for more than a heartbeat.

Most of the tanks are very well lite, a few not so as the type of fish need more darkness.

What camera are you using and how well does it handle noise? I would have to go back and check the metadata on some images to recall what I used. As I remember I didn't have a problem with the exposure, it was with keeping the fish in focus long enough to fire the shutter. Jelly fish, easy, the rest "NOT"

I have a few ideas for shots that I want to try that require a slightly longer exposure, Maybe a mono-pod will do. There shouldn't be a problem with that.

Call and ask them.

I would think the only problem you'd have is people getting in the way. Setting up a tripod in front of a display on a busy weekend might be a challange. There tends to be a lot of little kids around places like that.

I don't have the answer, but I don't see the point of tripod in there. Everything including the fish will be moving. You won't get a still shot of anything.
But, there probably won't be a lot of light, making for somewhat slow shutter speeds.

I was also thinking of taking multiple shots as the crowd moves through the area so that I can (clone?) them out in post processing using this technique: How to Remove Tourists from Your Photos | Travel Photography and Stock Images by Manchester Photographer Darby Sawchuk - dsphotographic.com. I was also thinking that I could use this same technique to get the fish in the most interesting and appealing positions for the photograph. So even if I was using quick shutter speeds, I would still like to know if I could bring a tripod.
