So getting back outside and my editing style has changed just wanted to post here cuz I know you guys will do a good shred for me to get some C&C. These images are from the same session. Thanks

Ok, no shredding involved - but I would recommend some reading on composition as well as the rule of thirds. The first shot in particular, you'll notice that both of your subjects have the feet cut off, but there is plenty of empty space above their heads and off to each side. I really like the kind of partial silhouette look on the second one, but again from a composition standpoint I think it could be a lot stronger image with some minor edits.

Just my 2 cents worth of course, YMMV.

Yes i agree about composition......I have only taken one course and maybe I should go through it again. Although I did think it was okay to crop at certain points of the body so that is why I cropped where I did in the first image. I also agree about number 2 but I would crop in closer from the right and I didn't want to get rid of my tree......I guess I could add it in again.....but *sigh* that might be too much work lol

Also thank you for taking the time to comment!

both of these images are great. and just because the rule of thirds exists doesn't mean it's meant to be followed at all times. you don't need c&c from this forum. go get work. that second shot is epic! infact it's going in my bank for inspiration.

I am of the opinion that both of these would have been better if shot in portrait orientation. IMO nothing in the background adds to the subject so why not focus on the subject and cut that stuff out. The only thing in the second pic that adds anything is the sun, that tree isn't all that important and takes the focus off of the lady.

Thank you very much! I appreciate all feedback but also really love the encouragement! ♥

That's personal preference. The subject is beautifully surrounded by nature. That's called framing.

It works in both these shots. In my opinion.

That composition on the first makes me uneasy, which I don't think is the response you're looking for with the image. I feel like it should either have both feet in the photo or you should have zoomed in and cropped them at their thighs. I like the second one though.

I think they were referring to the framing of the people within the frame of the nature.

Excessive top space in the first one, and a direct, at-the-ankles amputation of BOTH standing, centered figures. You have GOT to be kidding, calling this image "great". Seriously?"Great"? We have already had enough trolling from you today. The first shot is an absolutely noobish, awful attempt at composition. The second shot, much, much better. But the first is about as far from being "great" as one can be as a professional or even serious amateur shooter. Come on, stop being patronizing to the entire forum. CorrieMichael has worked hard to improve her game, and your kind of ridiculous, patronizing "these images are both great" commentary is uncalled for, and insulting. Perhaps disingenuous might be a better word. I've tried to keep things kind and courteous here for the last several weeks, but you suddenly showing up today, admitting you've ,"Been a troll on forums" and had a, "Great time being a troll", and asking members to leave this site and to come to YOUR OWN PERSONAL WEBSITE for advice, all together is really an unwelcome development here, bace. Corrie deserves better. If that's your idea of "great" work, I seriously doubt your credentials.

I completely agree with the first CC you got. I'm a bit of a leg chopper myself but I usually aim for the thigh if I do and stay away from the ankles or lower leg area if at all possible. The 2nd is gorgeous but I probably would have framed it a bit differently.. losing the bit of tree poking in on the side and getting her with less room on the right, more on the left of the image there.

I mean to be honest with myself I think I have always struggled with composition thinking I had done not too bad and maybe need to do something more with it. Something I have to work on and go forward with. I know the client will be happy with both but wanted some critique and I got it!

the 2nd in portrait i really liked.. but i did quick random dimension crops for fun to give an idea of what id have likely done

Although I also have to be honest and say that not too much I do on here is right.....and that's okay. I come here to get harsh, blunt critique on my photos. I don't have to take it but it always makes me rethink things. I may not change any of the above images........but I may go play around with them now and have a look through my composition course again :)
