We talk about getting low on your subject. But how about 4,000 feet low?
Background: In the Black Hills, the Homestake Gold Mining company closed down their deep mine years ago and basically just kept the site secure. The state took it over and, after pumping out thousands of vertical feet of water, are building a massive underground laboratory facility. These two photographers have been with them taking everything from documentary to artistic shots as deep as the 4,000 foot level.
