Getting more detail out of websites blurry conversion?

I website I upload photos to reformats all the photos into something slightly more blurry. Was wondering if there is a way around this. I discovered that if I get the size right(the size they resize my photo to), then I get slightly better resolution, but beyond that I am lost.

Anyone run into this before? A website that resizes and basically blurrifies a photo to consume less space. How did you solve the problem?

i post to a host site and then link it in. like facebook ruins pictures but linking them allows viewers to click for full resolution.

Perhaps you can invest in a basic photo editing program.

I havnt read this whole article and its from 2014 but seems to be what everyones concerned about from fstoppers.com "how i upload my photos to facebook or the photographers guide to photo formats for the web" by Nino Batista

Looks like way too much work, bottom line seems to be .png format or .png-24 then reduce to acceptable file size and image size before uploading and do a bunch of other stuff so they dont automatically do it to you poorly. If I understand correctly. Also FB at least gives priority to businesses. Think its still free to make a business page and upload there but seems to be much more to it than that.

Don't use those websites anymore... really, look at the Terms & Conditions, is it worth using a site that just wants to get their hands on users' photos?

Of course they don't care about the quality of their website, they're getting user submitted photos for free and have Terms that allow them to use, sell, license, etc. etc. If their intent was to provide a good quality service to photographers, then they would. Not that it would be free - but how good can you expect for free?
