Getting started in photography! Feedback please!!

Yeah, I was going to ask what the surface consisted of on the first, looks almost like a carbon fiber coffee table Is it just plexi glass over some sortve mesh like material?

I agree...I really like the first picture..great composition...yes I see where the lighting can be corrected slightly but that will come. I personally like the tint/color. What I've been doing is taking shots of the same object and playing with the settings/flash and see what I get..If you're not doing that already then I'd consider trying it.

That's what i did to get the color/tint now... i wasn't planning on it but I liked it once I did. I feel like it looks like an older picture... once that has aged or something. I'm not sure exactly what I was going for but I liked it. I also have Photoshop Elements 6, and between that and Lightroom there are SOOO many editing options that I don't know where to start haha. I don't really know anything about either of the programs...
