That's a really tough shot to try and make work. If there was some heavy fog and you could get an angle with a bit more of the river and without the trees it could possibly work (like an emerging out of the fog shot). As a snapshot, it's ok enough, but as a dis-associated viewer there's just not much here to hold my interest.

One thing that's key to photography is getting good light, and having some shadow. Without that things can look a bit mushy. Have a look at Tuna's work on the forum, he's got a great way with working light into shots with people.

to be honest, this is for me a generic shot that I would delete immediately in the camera after reviewing on display ..
