I'm headed home today for Christmas.

I wanted to pack fairly light but then I also wanted to have enough photo gear to tackle whatever while I'm there.

This is the result.

I didn't have a bag big enough to fit the one light stand I wanted to bring.

I'm not very good at traveling.

I'm not sure what we're looking at. I guess the light stand poked through the packaging material. If that is the problem, then you have to find something "largish and flatish" to screw onto the threaded end, and then it won't poke through.

Sorry. It's actually the stand head poking out the top of the bag. I had some longish bags for storing soft boxes but I underestimated their length.

The top wouldn't close so I just taped it shut

If it broke,fix it man.

The handle broke while I was at the airport.

This was just a last minute solution since I didn't have a bag long enough for my light stand.

But it made it OK! Nothing is broken lol.

I'm not sure if they are made large enough width wise but you may want to consider a shipping tube for the flight home. Any office supply or shipping store shiuld have them. The round ones are available in up to an 8" diameter (probably have to go to a shipping/UPS/FedEx store for that size since it isn't a common one). The tubes are pretty sturdy and you can fashion a makeshift handle out of duct tape.
