What's new

gonna be shooting a december wedding in iowa need suggestions for dealing with snow

OP, that's just the way it is when you talk about being new plus doing weddings. You will get mean responses :). Happened to me too. In fact, gsgary had similar responses LOL.. was he right? Absolutely.

Haha Very true what schwetty said, if you come on here saying you're new to photography and already have your first wedding planned. Man oh man must your client be blind. Honestly these people here will rip you to pieces what has been said so far has been way to kind.

And now we love each other :

as i stated orignally, i am not the photographer the wife is, the photo's on the website are resized to 1024 x768 so that they will load fast. I am completely comfortable with constructive criticism, we are both learning to shoot. comments along the line of you should stick to a shovel instead of a camera are incredibly rude and accomplish nothing. i was recommended this site to learn and that's what i've come to do. that being said why do we have a wedding booked? the young lady who asked us has been seen my wife's work off of the net, the high res images and is impressed. why do we feel like we could do it? everybody that has approached Ashley about work has gone away with a smile on their face and loving the end product. does that mean we feel we are great photographers? not at all, we both know we are just starting and that is why we are looking for advice anywhere we can get it. we've got a year to learn and gain skills to make a better product. so if you have legitimate advice as some of the posters have already please keeping it coming. snide comments? don't waste the effort. my wife lives with her camera and it brings her great joy. she is going to be great and at 23years old with out formal camera training she's doing alright. can she or I get better? damn right we can and with your help and a lot of practice we can get there.

I'm sorry but it takes years not months, i'm not saying things to be nasty but to give you a reality check

Well.. if you can find a seasoned wedding photographer that is willing to do the wedding for $400, go right ahead ;). It is either me, or MWC.

Lawls to the above haha. Yeah I've had my DSLR for a little over a year, I've done sessions too but come on if somebody asked me to do a wedding I would say no. Simply due to the fact that there are way better photographers out there that have the gear, the knowledge, and the power to do it better then me. Because we all know...
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!

But seriously this is a joke. Like gsgary said it takes years to build skill and knowledge not 9 months?

It don't take years my eye. It takes aptitude. Someone new to photography with the aptitude can up take the information and put those to shame with years of "experience" It is called talent. Some never get it no matter how many years they have been taking photos talentless.

There were 2 people who worked side by side for 20 years.
1 retired with 20 years of experience
1 retired with one year experience repeated 20 times.
