Can others edit my Photos

Saw a 16-85mm Nikon DX VR on craigslist that was listed as brand new and still in unopened box for 400.00. Is this a good lens and would it work with my D90 and 300s?
 
Still pretty new to know if it's good or not, I would be wary of that price, sounds low.
