Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hello to all,
My gopro 10 takes pics and vids. I can load and import to my desk top. I can view the pics ok but when I try video all I get is sound and no picture. I continue to get pop ups telling me to install HEVC. I called gopro 3 times and each time they have me install a different app. I now have VLC, and HandBreak. I think tech assist is barking up the wrong tree. I don't want to install more programs which I don't need.
Would any one be able to help?

Thanks in advance,
Mikey

VLC supports HEVC, and you said you have that installed. You also mentioned that you are having issues launching the MS Store. Make sure that you are up to date on the Windows Updates, because if I remember correctly, that is an old issue that they resolved. You may still be able to find instructions on how to reset the store cache, which might address that. Given that though, VLC should have installed the codec, so no idea on that. It's possible that you have larger problems with your PC than just not being able to run the codec or access the MS Store. Maybe a corrupt registry or corrupt system files. For that I would recommend finding a PC repair store unless you are comfortable with poking around in the registry; breaking that can be a disaster.

I found this on Techspot, so I'm guessing you may have a problem with your Win 10 install.

"On Windows 10, you can natively play HEVC videos in the default Films & TV app or through Windows Media Player. Alternatively, you can use VLC or MPC-HC for playback, which support older operating systems, or popular media center apps like Kodi (version 14 onwards) and Plex Media Player."

OK, Let me do some poking around if my updates are up to date. Thanks
Actually, starting from "basics", which version of Windows are you talking about and what CPU?

With the Ryzen 3 3200G, your graphics might struggle a little being integrated graphics (AMD Vega), but it should do the job. First you need to get that HEVC codec installed and detected by the system. Win 10 normally comes with a codec that can decode/encode H.264 preinstalled, so not sure why it isn't detected. You might try Bing Co-Pilot+ or Google search engines to see if they have any information.

Hello Boys,
Well, I made some progress. I went into administrator command prompt and ran syst. file check and fixed the corrupt file to fix the microsoft store which now opens with no problem. Whew.
I cleared out all apps that didn't work anyway and started fresh with a few non-microsoft apps and the best I got was a tiny still frame of one of my gp vids. It seems to me that the microsoft app has some small whatchamacallit that forces me to be the only thing left to try.
Am I correct?
Do I gotta break down and spend the .99 cents?
Mikey

Howdy! Progress is good. Try setting VLC, if you have it installed, as the default app for H.264 video files and see if that helps. .99 isn't much, so that may be worth it to view the videos.

Copy that, Maybe I'll try later. Gotta be in the right mood for this stuff. I'm tying not to throw it all in the farmer's yard!

I GOT IT!!!
Sorry about the delay. I kept monkeying around with other downloads to no avail. You must sighn up with the microsoft store and pay the stupid .99 cents. Apparently they are in kahoots with gopro and somehow got the thing coded so only theirs will work. Don't get me wrong, It's not the money. It's about me signing up more stuff into my pc that I'll only use once in my life. I like to keep my pc as clean as possible.
Anyway, Thank you so much for the help!
Here is my very first vid!

Your video is marked "Private" so only accounts that you specifically allow can view it. If that is what you intended, then fine. . . .
