Argh, all your photos, Tony, show me over and again that I MUST learn to shoot RAW!
No "normal" jpeg would have brought about this light!

Oh that is beautiful! Gorgeous light and dark contrasts, and the architecture itself is just magnificent! Lovely!
 
Thanks all for the kind comments above.

I take a lot of church architecture photographs, and for me the architecture is usually the main subject. But when I saw this view, I knew that the architecture had to play second fiddle to the wonderful light and shade and the sheer atmosphere of this place.
