I am about to order a Cokin P series filter holder that accepts rectangular filters that can be stacked. The graduated ND filters adjust up, down and can be rotated. I'm wondering how to determine F stop. Say I'm shooting a landscape and in the upper corner of the frame there is a section of bright sky that I know will be blown out. Do you spot meter the part of the frame that is okay, and then the part that is blown out? Say the difference is five stops, then insert the five stops of filtering, re-compose and shoot it. Or, do you just filter until it looks even in the viewfinder, compose using matrix metering (over all) and shoot? I'm probably way over thinking this!

Thanks, Tom Beard
