Had to pick up a package at the greyhound but they were closed for a half an hour so I took the dog down to the beach. Walked right up close to this heron before I even noticed it. Rushed back to the truck for my camera and fortunately it was still there. Of course now that I had my camera it wouldn't let me get as close!

My friend didn't believe me and looked up their range online. Apparently they migrate through here.

Here is the neighbourhood moose. Her calf was just off in the trees.

And I missed this one in my rhino post earlier

The Rhino shot is so majestic.. I remember simplybarb was wandering around looking for a moose.. It's funny that you found it with such ease.. :)

Gorgeous shots all of them..

Nice shots Steve and a fine Heron in flight shot, great timing on that one. Rihno's are really specail and well taken on that shot. Love the background as well. Moose, well nothing like that here and a great head on shot. Also extremely well taken.

All the nest Steve, nice work.

Danny.

Thank you very much!

...but "all the nest"? It's true, we must really be bird crazy around here :)

There are lots of blue herons where I live but I can never get that close! Great shot!!!

See, and my herons just will NOT fly. They stand there waaaaaaaay out in the water looking for fish and kinda glance my way. They know I'm not wading out into the marsh for them.

My herons are city birds, though, so they may be a little less shy. I can't wait to get out and get some shots of them this spring (first spring with a real camera).
