Thanks, Charlie. It's such a peaceful place I could just sit there and watch the lake all day, I think.

I like the first one. Nice peaceful lake. How far is that from Crossville?

I was just reading how the Bald Eagles are increasing in numbers in TN, that is great news. Would love to see one close enough to take a photo of.

It's 115 miles from my house to a friend's house in Crossville. It's 210 miles from my house to the visitor center at Reelfoot Lake state park. Figure 325 miles tops, probably a little less since I'm about 10 miles from I-40. About a 5-1/2 hour trip from Crossville.

Reelfoot Lake in January or February is the place then. I've seen a few here in Nashville, a few at Hiwassee Natural Wildlife Refuge (between Chattanooga and Knoxville). One of the rangers at Reelfoot told me that during January and February they frequently have 200 to 300 PAIRS of Bald Eagles.

They also have three in captivity. One was injured and is scheduled to be released. They other two were too seriously injured to be released (one lost most of a wing, the other a foot). The shot below was taken at about 9' focus distance.

Amazing photo! Wish I lived closer to learn some of your techniques. I still have a ways to go with my trustee D5100. I can't imagine that many Bald Eagles in one place! Thanks for sharing your photo and info of the Bald Eagles.

Well definitely a good ways away. Would have to plan for a trip for sure. Thanks for the info will jot it down for future reference.
