Great Horned Owl

[naturezone]

This great horned owl has a nest with 3 owlettes nearby... she no longer fits with the growing youngsters, but stays close - providing food and protection.

Thanks for looking!

Wow - great potential to do a camouflage shot. The feather colors and design on the owl seem to match nearly perfectly with the tree bark. Framing the owl against the tree bark and seeing the yellow eyes with the black around the face would make a great wildlife image to illustrate camouflage. May also be an interesting image that requires a long look to identify the subject, in contrast to typical methodology where the subject pops.
