I took some pics of this mallard on Friday, this was my favorite. There was almost too much green with all the moss and ferns that cover the lower Columbia River Gorge area. I'm trying to decide what the best DOF is for a shot like this. Would you go for more DOF and tie him to his environment more or less DOF and try to separate him from the all green background?

Nice shot, crop is a little tight for me, but it is whatever you like after all. Personally, I would try and separate him from his environment, otherwise, I would be afraid that you might lose part of him into the background.
