It's cold living in a mitten.

Hello there, I'm new. I'm new to "serious" photography, as well. A few months back my parents decided to give me their unused Canon Digital Rebel XTi. Since then I've been deeply absorbed in all things photography; indeed, my wife merely rolls her eyes whenever we go somewhere because she knows I'll be bringing the camera with us. You know, just in case

I bring very little training to the whole affair, although I've always loved looking at photography. I'm somewhat proficient in Photoshop (game design experience, making textures and so on). I just figured joining a beginners-friendly forum would be a good way for me to develop my craft (most of my friends don't think much of photography so it's hard to get critiques from them).
