Does anybody know of any free software out there on the internet for hacking the software on a Sony P&S camera? I'm working on a project, just for fun, after getting the idea from seeing something similar. I'd like to send a weather balloon up with a point and shoot camera on board that takes a photo every 5 seconds. Eventually, the balloon will go high enough that it pops. Hopefully 100,000 feet! Then the equipment parachutes down. That part isn't real complicated. The NOAA does it on a daily basis. Hopefully, the thing comes down in an area that gets cell phone coverage so that the GPS on the cell phone on board can E-mail me its location. It goes a little more in depth than that, but that's the idea. I've found software for hacking a Canon P&S, but not a Sony. I have a couple of older Sony P&S cameras that I'm willing to risk losing on this project. I can't figure out how to alter the software though. I want the camera to take a 2MP photo every 5 seconds, for as long as 6 hours. I might just buy a used Canon P&S off of E-bay or something, but I'd rather just use the stuff I have already. Any tips?
This was on the news... I'm guessing this is where you got it? Seems pretty cool to do... not much of a help though, good luck!
