Ok, lets get Raj taken care of right off the bat:

So where does an 1200 lb polar bear sleep? Pretty much wherever they want. Whenever they want. In whatever goofy pose they want.

Rather liked this shot of a Bison after it emerged from the pond:

For those of you who've never seen an ostrich curtsy:

Another shot of the Bison enjoying the local watering hole:

Wonderful. Except, where's my kitty picture??? (We spent 45 minutes searching for the gorilla's at the zoo today because I told Scott I wasn't leaving until i got a gorilla shot for you. Will post them tomorrow. I think I wore the new camera out. 2 zoos, filled 4 memory cards!)

Can't wait to see what you got from the dual zoo trip - I'll be keeping an eye out for them. :)

All very good!

That is my favorite kitty picture ever. Those eyes!

The first zoo we went to wasn't open yet. They put out a call for volunteers to help clean up after the brutal winter. Lots of broken limbs, leaves etc. So we got up at 5:30am to drive there to help. We got to see the deer ect. I was nose to nose with a baby deer. We could hear the cats but they were in their barn. It was a great day.

May I ask a really stupid question? How did you shoot this with that high ISO yet I don't see any noise? I struggled today in the pavilions because Iwas worried about having my ISO too high.

That is so cool that you volunteered like that. It's really amazing when you can actually get that close to a non-domesticated animal, you just get a connection that can't really be explained - well, at least I do.. lol.

Post processing - I reduced the noise with lightroom and also had some chromatic aberration that had to be dealt with, but lightroom really does do a pretty good job of dealing with the noise. I

I love all the shots, but as always Gorillas are something else. The vibrant colours on the jaguar looks amazing. Is it weird that I want to pet them? :-P
The polar bear looks dead tired, and the Ostrich looks adorable. Great shots robbins.

I so miss these guys at our local Zoo, and now I can't even take my favorite chimp shots as they have added a new fence which blocks a clear shot for the camera. The worst photography friendly Zoo ever!
