just looking for opinions - thanks in advance.

Using 6D as camera, i shoot mostly portrait work (80% in my small home studio, 12'x 16, 20% outdoors)

Lenses I own:
- 85 f1.8
- 135 f2.0
- 100 f2.8 macro non L
-70 200 f4 IS
- 24 105 f4

I was offered the opportunity to trade my wickedly amazing 135 for a 85 1.2 vII straight up (no extra $$$). The 85 has a small scratch that is barely noticeable and other than that it works flawlessly. The other person struggles with children portraits outside as the focus is too slow on the 85 1.2

I really love the 135 for outdoor shoots (i guess i could use the 70-200 going forward), and already have the 85 1.8....should i trade? I'm thinking i would possibly sell my 1.8 and my 100 macro and possible by something else??

Thoughts?

Unless you really really need f1.2 I wouldn't, 85mm f1.8 on fullframe certainly allowed me to have as shallow dof as I'd ever need, and with the iso ability of a 6d you probably dont need f1.2 for light generally

also of mote, i got my 135 for CHEAP ($625 used in a heartbreak deal)!!!!!

You know what they say about opinions. IMO you have an ideal portrait set up. I think the 85 f1.2 may be GAS :)

Do you shoot your portraits at f/1.8, f/2.0 or f/2.8 all the time?

and why would you want to get rid of a "wickedly amazing" lens ?

Shoot at various apertures..to be honest i have never used a lens with >than 1.8.

Make the trade.

THEN, you've got the 85 f/1.8 AND the 85 f/1.2 v2, with no additional cash outlay.
That gives you the ability to try both the lenses out--after you decide which to keep, you sell the other, along with the 70-200 f/4 and use the funds to purchase a 70-200 f/2.8.

The only downside is that then you'd better start producing some really outstanding work, with all that good glass!

I would definitely make the trade of an 85/1.2-II for a 135/2-L...the 85mm is worth more money. The scratch will be of no consequence, but I would not tell that to the other person! Make the trade immediately, before the other person comes to her senses!
