Has The Price Of Glass Gone Up?

I've been accumulating a little play money, in anticipation of adding a lens. Browsing around the last couple days and seems like there's been some substantial increases over the last couple of months. I know one lens I had been looking at has gone up almost $200. Anyone else notice this and why the big increases?

Browsing around the last couple days and seems like there's been some substantial increases over the last couple of months. I know one lens I had been looking at has gone up almost $200. Anyone else notice this and why the big increases?

Well can't speak specifically about a particular lens but I have noticed that at least as far as used prices are concerned they seem to ebb and flow a bit. The name brand stuff tends to stay more consistent as far as pricing but the Tamron and Sigma lenses tend to show a lot more variation in their used pricing.

Just added another lens to my bag myself, a used Sigma 135-400mm 4.5/5.6. Paid $160 for it used. A few months ago I couldn't find one for less than $300. In a few months time who knows, it might be back closer to that price point.

I would say it was a sale or change in models, but seems to be both manufacturer's lenses and 3rd party.

used prices are concerned they seem to ebb and flow a bit.

Yup seems like they always "ebb" lower when I'm selling, and "flow" higher when I'm buying.

Lol.. always seems that way for me too. Invariably I'll buy something used, something new in that range is released shortly thereafter and I find out if I'd just waited a month or so I could have gotten the used one much cheaper
