have to make some large prints

i have to make a few large prints 16 x 20 and i would like to get good quality prints. i have a wolf camera here in town that does prints this size in shop and was wondering about their quality if anyone knows.

Indeed, really 10mp territory for that size and of course a top quality image as you'll probably be pushing it.

I'm probably going to be shot for suggesting this, but...I'm not sure if you have a Costco near you, but I have a D40 (6.1 mp) and got a 12x18" print for $2.99 and it looks great. I did minimal cropping of the picture, so that helped. Granted, it's probably not "gallery" quality, but if you're just planning on hanging it up in your house, it will be more than fine. Be sure to get a lustre finish, not glossy.

yea costco is ok as long as your just wanted a "typical looking print" but if you want quality, you need to go with a good lab

well im using a 5d so im fairly sure the photos are fine as far as megapixels go minimal cropping has been done....on another question in regards to same general subject whats a good resolution for various sizes anyone have some good info on this?

Typically work on 300dpi for prints. So 16x20 = 4800x6000 approx. You can get away with 180dpi for most work but that's pushing the lower limit.

Screens are 72dpi btw.

Camera Gallery here does good work. I like them a lot better then Wolf....
