Haven't posted any in awhile but here's what i've been up too.

Did a just for fun session the other day. Used a gel to see what kind of lighting effect I would get and these were some of the outcome. As always C&C is welcome and appreciated. I know I haven't quite got the lighting down but still trying.

I love the lighting and facial position of the 3rd one... but I wish she didn't look like she was about to punch me in the face. I get that look from girls in clubs too much as it is.

But seriously... I like the affect of the gel. I think if you tweaked it a bit you could get some really sweet stuff with it. :sillysmi:

Haha, I read your post... I just couldn't resist. They look great! I want to get some gels as well. Unfortunately I had to use Red Green and Blue gels that are used to calibrate rear projection TV's. They fit on the flash head great, but they also melt to the flash when the light gets hot.

Ahh I'm an idiot and miss the obvious, well I use AB and their gels. So I have an assortment. I just thought the blue fit her makeup and dramatic look I was going for.

I dunno. I have no idea. I like how it hits the side of her face like that... the way it sort of cuts back on the shoulder next to the right part of the frame sort of bugs me a little, but I'm just being super picky at that point.

I really do like them.

Ah I get ya. I was trying to get it to hit more of her back across the whole length like rim light but coulnd't quite get it where I wanted it without her face turning really blue. If I had been able to flag a bit I think that would have helped or another light going cross wise the other way. Thats high on my wish list at the moment. One more light.

Yeah. Uh-huh. Gels are kind of tricky when aimed right at a person sometimes.

They are but really cool in effect. I have others to edit where I changed the background color but still getting a bit of fallout, must be the way I have things set up. Mostly just playing around. If I was crafty at all I would try making a homemade beauty dish or home made flag doors or, homemade grids. Ah the list goes on. Why couldn't I have married someone handy.

The lighting looks great! I prefer the more playful facial expression from this model... the serious face looks a bit forced. Great job overall.
