1. i know its dusty and the top right got chopped off. it was more of a spur of the moment- i wonder how this would look- type deal.

you gotta be more patient dude... sometimes no comments can mean people either dont feel qualified to comment.. or they dont have anything to comment on... would you rather have 1 well thought CC where someone tells you a bunch of areas to improve, or 10 people saying "good shots" which really doesnt help you improve

Worst reasoning not to comment ever. I know what you are saying Chris but people really dont need to be "qualified" (I know your not saying they need to be) to comment in order to express their opinion. I know a lot of people feel this way and I used to as well but then I realized how much I was able to learn from making comments on others photos.

I think I'd like #1 better if the whole guitar was in focus. But, that's me.

i have to say I think your wrong... if someone went out and bought a camera today, then joined the forum, then started giving me comments on my photos, I wouldn't take them as credit... because they don't know what they are talking about.... when you read these forums, 9 out of 10 of the comments that people give are "nice pics" but thats not CC to me.. its personal opinion... and if I'm trying to improve my photos, I don't want someones personal opinion..

See I liked that when I was first starting even if people didnt feel qualified. A persons opinion of a photograph even though it may or may not have any technical merit is still someones opinion. If you are doing photography any insight good or bad can lead you to what a potential customer may be looking for down the road.

I agree with you.

I always say... photography is art. If you like an image, it's a good image.

Sure, others may find things they don't like about it, and from a technical standpoint, there are certain things we are "supposed" to do, but to be frank, some of the greatest images out there don't follow the "rules."

I'm currently drilling this into my wife's head, as we've recently learned that she has a passion for photography.

I will comment on photos, here or the shots my wife takes... but I'm not right and the others wrong. Photography is subjective... and none of us is always right!

I'm going to comment even though I don't feel qualified, because you said that's ok by you. so here goes

I like the first one, dust and all. only thing that bugs me is the way one of the strings is poking up into nowhere

the second one doesn't do it for me. sky looks a bit freaky, but more than that the top of the tree in the center feels like its in the wrong place

I like the last one, but feel like I've seen it a bazillion times

that said, all of 'em are way better than anything I've done as of yet
