Hawk of Some Sort

Found this guy perched up in the back yard. I was cutting the grass, so I grabbed the camera and ran out for the shot. Too bad I had no time really to set my focus settings; missed him flying away.

Nice shot. I am leaning towards a Cooper's Hawk. Identifying Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawks

Nice one! I would probably prefer this to the fly-away shot anyways.

It's really sharp too.

Can't help much with the identification though, not so familiar with birds east of the Rockies ...

Thanks fellas! I think JacaRanda nailed it with the Cooper's Hawk. I've seen quite a few of these guys around my area of Nebraska.
