OK, I'll try to chip in with some photos. With these you can test your night-time HDR. Sorry about the JPEGs, but it was the best I could do. These are +2, -2, and 0 EV. Bynx suggested trying two versions -- one a straight HDR from whatever package you're using and, if desired, another using whatever post-processing tricks tools and tricks you want to use.

wow this one will be a little bit harder even though they are spaced at EV2 image #1 & #3 are so close together curious to see what everyone's results will be

Wow this was a nasty. File not big enough for good details. Weird things going on in the water. This is with Nik HDR EFFEX PRO.

hue/sat mask for added color to the grass area although is not the green I wanted to achieve

This image is a good example of when to use a grey card for proper white balance
this way the image would not have a strong yellow hue in area's where it shouldn't be.

I'm glad you guys had fun with this. Although it looks simple, I found it a real challenge to get a good final result. 480Sparky came up with the closest interpretation of how the scene looks in reality, albeit with a little additional sharpening. Provo really captures the sense of the stone in the carillon building. BTW- The yellowish cast is close to its natural color, thanks to the odd way it's lit at night.

I'll study up on how to provide better raw files for future posts.

Photomatix. Low-ish strength, luminosity around 1, Gamma at 1.5. Reduced the temperature in PP and bumped up the shadow and highlight settings.

That's pretty darn good! You managed to retain the framing branches in the sky without having them be overpowering in the water, all with excellent shadow detail. Nicely balanced. That was essentially the basis of the challenge.
