Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Nikon D3200 18-55mm VR2

Hello everone my name is Liam and im new to photography and editing.

I purchased my first DSLR about a month ago now and love putting it to use most days.

I current work all over the UK on the highways, the majority of work is at night time so this gives me a fantastic opportunity to visit different places wherever im working throughout the day with my camera.

Im very serious about learning and want to poduce the best pictures i possibly can, hopefully with a little help from more experienced photographers.

I am 26 years old and have my own family, 2 beautiful children and my wife to be. Photography is something im passionate about especially with having children to capture them growing up.

As with all beginners i have a few issues i would like help and advice with if thats ok with you guys, i have captured some brilliant pictures this past month, but at close inspection am not satisfied with. I will go in to more detail later on.

Last of all i am a very fast learner and will take in any advice thrown my way, this is my introduction, thanks for taking the time to read it, i will reply to posts as soon as i get the opportunity.

Thanks

Liam Norton

I will post my first example in the morning when i finish work.. i will post the original RAW file and my attempt at the edit. At a glance, the picture looks brilliant. But when you zoom in you will start to notice noise. I have been using Lightroom to edit my pictures. I dont know if its my camera settings or my lense or my editing i just cant put a nail on it.. this is where im hoping you can help. Ill be as honest as i can be an give you as much info as i can. You should be able to get most info from the RAW file i send. I know bot to buy cheap lenses at the min im only using a Nikkor 18-55mm VR2 lens that came with my D3200. I am looking at getting a 55-300mm next but not before ive got advice off some more experienced people first.

Again thanks for any help. Ill post the pics as soon as i get back to my hotel :)

Good morning everyone.

Long shift last night!

Right, im about to upload my image to see what you guys think, please point out anything you think i could of done better or improve on. Like i said, the image looks fine at first glance, but when you look closely, zoom or try to make photo bigger, there is grain/noice.

Exp : 1/400 sec at f/6.3
Focal : 55mm
ISO : 800
Model : D3200
Lens : 18-55mm f/3.5

.. i will post the original RAW file ..
Unfortunately RAW files cannot be posted here. Just an untouched JPG will suffice. If someone asks to see the RAW file, you will have to upload it to a dropbox site and post a link (or PM somebody a link).

Ahh ok thanks for that info.. im having issues uploading the file, a red box appears saying there is a security error??

My edited file was too big! Here is the original. Thanks

That one is too big as well.

When I "export" a file, my software gives me several options, some of which include "downsizing" the file.

When I am preparing a file to post here, I select "to fit 1024 pixels", (approx. wording) which upload right away.

I can also select compressing, but that is not necessary to display a page-size image here.

the quality on this upload seems to have dropped??

will changing any of ths help ??

O.K., on the squirrel shot;

It is framed oddly, leaving too much irrelevant background on the left side.

The squirrel itself is kind of dark, which is to be expected considering your camera exposed for the entire scene.

Sometimes one can lighted the shade and shadow areas in editing, but I suspect you would like to make it better right off.

Under "Image sizing", you have specified the resolution to be 1024 pixels per inch, which had downgraded the resolution. You don't need to do that, as long as the size of the file is specified to be no larger than 1000 pixels on a side, which you have also done.

Welcome aboard Liam. Hope you have fun here. :)
Regarding your shot I'd ask myself: What am I trying to showcase here?
The squirrel, The bark of the tree or the brightly lit background?
Rgds,
Jasii
