Hello, I am new to this forum and I joined because I feel like this environment can help my lacking photography abilities. I have myself a new nikon d3100 (hope it isn't outdated) and I am currently learning basics of manual photography. Thank you

The D3100 isn't the top of the line Nikon available by any means, but it's still a capable camera. I use a D5100 myself and I've been pretty happy with the results. I think you'll find that while good gear can help in some situations, usually the biggest difference between a good picture and one you don't feel you can keep is more about technique than equipment. So welcome to the forum and don't be shy about asking questions
