The Coffee House

On the news this morning.....A woman at the airport fainted, falling onto the baggage carousel, security reported she's slowly coming around. ;-)

Went to the lake to mow yesterday. The ground was so wet I was leaving tracks with the mower, but didn't have a choice as this week is either rain or appointments. Last night the rain and storms started around 2am, finally clearing off. I'm done with the rain for a bit.:crushed:

Happy Humpday Hosers! Summer tried to break into Spring, and we brushed triple digits at 99F today. Ugh! Tomorrow we are supposed to be back down in the 80's.

Had an interesting afternoon today. One of my coworkers is located in Mexico, and we were coordinating some work for Friday afternoon, when he suddenly started typing in Spanish. CoPilot helped with the translation, so no information was lost. I used CoPilot to respond in Spanish. I love this sort of thing! Estoy aprendiendo español! 😁

Because one can never have too much, I put a corned beef brisket in the crockpot this morning, along with cabbage and carrots, and will boil some spuds in a little bit. The adventures in cooking continue. 😋

I took Honey for her first long walk this past weekend. It was a seven mile round trip. At about five miles I feel a tug on the leash and look down, and she just laid down on the trail and said, "I'm done. You go on ahead without me." I poured her some water in a collapsible bowl and gave her a moment to compose herself, and then we continued our trek home. Guess I'll be doing boonie tromps by myself in the warmer weather this year, but that means more freedom to leave the trail with my camera.

Aww. You did the right thing by offering her water and letting her rest.

You caught her off guard, I think. Now she's had a chance to know what to expect, and trusts you to provide water. She may yet grow into a fabulous hiking partner.

I'd type something pithy in Spanish, but I'm too lazy to find Copilot. :icon_mrgreen:

CoPilot is amazing! I had an hour long "conversation" regarding my aquarium and another long conversation about the plants growing in my back yard. Not only does it answer the initial question but then follows up with a question, often thought provoking. Fascinating!

Crappy shot through screen; the first Baltimore Oriole I’ve seen in the wild is a Sabattus neighbor. Lazy lobster shot a short video of bubba and Zoe interacting through the glass door. He’s still hanging around.

Another stump removed. This one was easy despite it being big just pulled it right out of the ground. It was badly decaying. Nice to see another eye sore gone.

Yay - you got one! All I ever get of these guys are crappy cell phone shots. I'm typically at the kitchen sink working while looking out the window when I spy them at the feeder. I hear them in the trees right before they swoop in. The phone is what's nearby.

Isn't it great to see them? :586:

From yesterday:

And then Daisy the Mallard hen decided to photo bomb the next shot. She's such a diva.

Here's hoping we both get more photo ops while they're hanging around. Mine usually disappear in June.

I finally dropped a line in the pond out back; hooked three and landed two. Small yellow perch and a bluegill a little smaller than my hand. Hook came off line on the third. Never saw what it was but it felt bigger/stronger than the other two.

Next time: better knots and the phone or camera.

Well #@$% , the realities are getting harder to deny. For many years I've been dealing with Essential Tremors, but until the last few years I've been able to control them at least momentarily. Now it's starting to show up in my hand held shots. Guess it's tripod only for me now.🙄

I can empathize with that. I call my essential tremors "essential earthquakes." There are more times than not that I have to hold a glass with two hands to avoid giving myself a bath. Slowly I've been pushing my shutter speed up even for still shots to compensate.

Try a monopod; they are quicker to set up and take up less room.

I picked up a Mafroto at Best Buy, I think it was.

@jeffashman sounds weird but mine seem to be worse when I'm focused on something else.

@snowbear I have one, used it yesterday. Managed to get some without telltale motion blur, but still had a few showing up. The problem is it's unpredictable and you don't really know it's happening.
