Hello - New to TPF

Hi,

By way of introduction, I'm a retired school secretary who lives in the mountains of N. California. I design and sell jewelry (including miniature paintings that I turn into jewelry), travel a lot and love, love, love to take photographs.

I'm the first to admit that my eyes glaze over when the technical aspects of photography are discussed, and because of that, don't know nearly as much about it as I should. My interest lies in the creative aspects of taking photos, so I bumble and stumble through the technicalities as best I can and every now and then get a pretty decent photograph.

My subject matter is mostly wildlife, nature and travel photos. I also like to take pictures of food. It is my hope that by joining TPF, I'll learn a lot more about taking photos and I'm really going to make an effort to take an interest in the technicalities as well. More than anything, I want to become a decent, maybe even good photographer some day.

Looking forward to participating in the challenges, galleries and critiques and also getting to know all of you!

Hi Dawn, welcome to the TPF hope you enjoy it here. They have great threads in the landscape, wildlife, so have a look round in the threads then enjoy posting your photos.

I've been looking around and getting familiar with the site. There is much to see and learn here. I cannot find guidelines for posting photos - can someone tell me the size requirements or perhaps point me to where I might find this information.

I'm not sure what the file size limit is for uploading directly to here. What some of us do is upload them to another hosting site, like Flickr, then share kit here. For example, with Flickr, use the BBCode option, select the image size, and copy the link, then paste it here.
