help for rolling own film

anybody have any helpful hints on keeping the film from coming all the way out of the canister when you automatical wind it to take pictures? my prof uses his own rolled film and gives it to us to use but when i put it in my camera...the camera will wind it all out taking it out of the canister.

It needs to be taped to the spool in the canister better.

is rolling your own film worth it? say for a hobbyist? where can you get the supplies?

they say its cheaper in the long run, and you get to choose how many frames you want...
yeah i opened up the canister and started playing around with it and realized that it needed to be taped a certain way.

Once you buy the loader and the canisters it's about half price for BW film.
