Help me choose my first step. Canon EOS1000D / Fujefilm HS120EXR

Hello guys ,

So I need your help to decide which one of this I should choose :

Canon EOS1000D - Is pretty old , But is a dslr and has an interchangeable lens like all

10.1 MP Check google for more (I'm afraid that I may start to sound stupid if I say anything else.)

Fujifilm HS120EXR - It's a bridge camera and not an SLR and doesn't have an interchangeable lens.30X optical zoom.15MP

So , here is the thing . I know how to use the Canon EOS 550D very well (my brother owns one . but its quite expensive for me..so.)
Right now , what I want is a camera in which I can practice and learn.
My main concern is image quality and detail .Please advise.

(Note : Mods please feel free to move this thread anywhere , I'm a newbie here..so.. , And guys - No flaming . Please)

Buy the canon....and a lens your brother doesn't have .... then you can share

The 1000D body is so small that you should try it before buying it. If you have big hands, it'll be like fondling a small t** with two hands. Find a store and try for yourself.

I'd upgrade to any three digit D you can afford. Much easier to handle physically. Or, see if you can find a used 40D/5D that isn't overused.

I have an EOS 1000D. Its my first dslr. Its a great camera. May be entry level but its still a very capable camera. With some decent quality glass it takes incredible pictures.

1000D seemed to be really small (I managed to get a hold) , But what about 1100D guys ? I currently am going for an entry level dslr and I will upgrade to a better one (60d) after an year or so

I think the 1100D is even smaller than the 1000D. I have never held one but it looks tiny. Maybe try find a good 2nd hand 20D or 30D. I'd imagine you would pick one up for a pretty good price.

I am afraid to buy used cameras as I suspect most of them have been over used. I did check the net and some stores , they were all worn out (They'd have completed more than 90,000 actuations) . Isn't 1100D fatter and bigger than 1000D?
