I'm not much of a computer authority but I would definitely take the AMD over the Pentium...I've recently switched over to the AMD 3200 and I love it. I am a laptop guy and I like to play some games on the side...it works quite well for what I am doing.

Your memory operates at the maximum speed of the slowest memory installed. So, if your board accepts ddr2, don't bother with ddr.

1 gig of ram is nothing these days.

i got 2 gig in my year old laptop.

for photoshop and other digital graphic software i would get at least 2 gig.

Bah... I say 1 gig of ram is enough. You might get an advantage with 2 gig, but you can definitely get by well with 1.

I agree. If you're going to have Photoshop open along with like two or three other graphic programs, yeah, get more than a gig. But Photoshop alone won't use that much... unless you're opening files like 20000 pixels wide, lol.
