Help me take advantage of my awesome view of DC

Hi, I'm currently living in an apartment that has an insane view of DC. I've been wanting to do a timelapse or something cool but I don't know what kind of camera I would need, etc.. Does anybody have any ideas of some cool video or pictures I could do? I don't know if I'll be living here in another 6 months when my lease is up.

Welcome aboard TPF.
I've used a free software app for a couple of time releases with my D40. The one I use only connects Nikons to Macs, but there may be others out there for your camera.

I'm trying to get my bearings, there: are those the Kennedy Center, Memorial bridge and Teddy Roosevelt bridge?
