Help me with creation and taken date

I need some help and I'm hoping that someone here can give it to me.

I recently bought a new laptop running Windows 7 and my old one was XP. All of my photos that were moved by the computer shop from the XP machine to the Windows 7 machine were done as a "cut and paste". This wiped out my "created" date and my "taken" dates and replaced them with the date and time that they were moved from XP to 7. I figured that I would be able to drag and drop them, either as a group of photos or as the entire folders and this problem of losing the dates would be solved. I was wrong.

The question I put to all of you: Is there any possible way for me to move my photos from the old XP laptop to the new Windows 7 laptop and have all of my photos and videos (.mov) keep their "created" date?

If anyone knows how (even if I have to buy a program) please let me know. I am somewhat OCD and I really want my photos and videos to be in the actual order that I took them when I sort them in their folders. It is easier to recreate moments and timeline my trips if I can do this.

I think you're looking at the wrong metrics. Incidentally none of my photos have a "taken" date anywhere. Windows has Created and Modified dates. Created is the first instance of that file, so if you make a copy the Created date is updated to now, if it is Moved it is not updated, however the last accessed and I'm not sure but maybe even modified dates may get updated.

There's other fields in photos and Windows 7 only provides you with a small subset of them. If you view them in Irfanview, Picasa, or many other image viewers you should see the DateDigitised or DateOriginal values which were written in by the camera. ExIF fields are not touched when a file is moved or copied, only when a file is opened or saved in a program.
