I think the best way to learn photography is by practicing! Read up and go try some new things. As you experiment you will pick up more knowledge. I think the digital format has allowed someone to learn at a cheaper cost than traditional film. Yes the cameras are more but no film to buy and no processing to pay. I think leanring basic darkroom techniques helps. And I think the zone system helps, not just for B&W. But if you don't practice, and not willing to experiment some. Not going to go that far.

I am leaning twards the pentax with the image stabilazation. I think that is important to me because I would be taking pictures at fire scenes and stuff like that.
