Help/Tips - creating a high contrast picture? (no images inside)

I need some help on how to create a high contrast picture. It's part of an assignment i was given at college. I need to produce some High contrast pictures as well as a predominantly black image and a predominantly white image.


So anyway, what i'm looking for is basically a walkthrough of what kind of apperture i want to be using to create a high contrast pic etc

my lecturer did give us advice but i didn't write it down...i should really start paying more attention
