...I look at the Photo screen it's have if ONLY the flash fired and NOT the LIGHT.

Is it me or did that not make scene?

So your flash fires? But when looking at the photo it appears as if it didn't go off?... Is that what you meant to say?

If so; it sounds like your out of sync so check your shutter speed and shoot a photo at 1/30th of a second in a dark room (so there is not ambient light to mislead your test) and if you can tell the flash fired when looking at the photo then you need to find your max sync speed of your shutter.

EDIT: Or do you mean that there is only light coming from the flash and no ambient. If so you need a longer shutter speed.

Damn your right , sorry that made no sense. "i look at the photo and its as if ONLY the flash fired and not the light through the umbrella.

What i have been doing lately(which is hate) is i put my camera on a long shutter speed(1 sec or maybe 2sec) and the flash and the lights fire and then i hit the "test" button one more time to make it actually look like the lights fired. If i DO NOT do that, then only my flash goes off.

Are you using the strobe in slave mode? If so it's probably getting tripped by the pre flash on the speedlight.

yes i put it in slave mode. i dont usually use the cord for the slave. When i place the cord into the slave and put the other end in my adapter, it doesnt flash. suuuucks

If you are using the flash from the speedlight(430EX) to fire the strobe(umbrella) then the speedlights pre flash may be setting off the strobe before the shot is actually taken. That would make the flash from the speedlight the only flash you see because the strobe would have already fired by the time the shot snaps.

that sounds like the problem but how do i fix that?

I don't know anything about Canon cameras, but you should be able to disable it in the camera menus. Check your manual, or maybe someone who knows about Canon can chime in for that one.
