Help with Graphics Card

Family bought me an LCD widescreen for father's day...
20 inch DELL with 1600x900 resolution...
And that's the problem.
I have an Acer stack and the graphics card doesn't support 16:9
Furthermore, only has a VGA outlet (the Dell has VGA and DVI inputs...
So after hours reading the net and downloading just about every graphics card driver I could see, it seems that I have to buy a new graphics card...
Ok - so now I'm stumped.
How do I know what to look for..?
What specs in the various adverts (on ebay) tell me that card is suitable for the Dell with 16:9...?

Do you have the model name and number of the pc ? (should be on a sticker on the box) or was it a custom build ?

Yea a picture would be great. Some motherboards support agp and some pci. So when you know what slots you mb has then you will know what is compatble and what is not

A picture would surely solve it. Once we see what kind of slot you have, pretty much any modern graphics card will do, though you may have some trouble finding one if all you have is AGP...

i see youve got a dual core system
i suppose that has PCI-Express but the 32mb integrated graphics makes me think otherwise

Looks like you have 3 pci slots and one agp slot. Any pci card with a dvi out should do the job. Bear in mind pci is different from pci express.

NO... you want to get an AGP card

i have an fx5200 (128mb 64bit) that goes up to 2048x1536

but its a weak card IMO (i game a lot)

i think the best AGP card you can get today is the 7800 gs

assuming theyr still available

Oh gee yea. Got it a bit wrapped round my head.(man i really need a day off work). Pcie is the replacement for agp yea ? And the pci slots are for other stuff noy graphics cards yea ?
