help with PW Mini TT1 & Flex TT5

I need some help with the Pocket Wizard Mini TT1 and Flex TT5. I have the TT1 on my 5D MK II's hot shoe and a 580EX on the TT5, i also have a 430EX i wish to fire at the same time using the 580EX to trigger it. I have the 580EX in switch on master mode and the 430EX on Slave mode but when i take a shot the pocket wizards just flash red lights once and the flashes do not go off.
So basically my setup is:
Camera + TT1 >triggers> TT5 + 580EX in master mode >trying to trigger> 430EX in slave mode

I believe it is possible, as said on PW site.

the shoe of a MiniTT1 or FlexTT5 for optically controlling slave group

ControlTL system is reducing the use of flash energy for
communication so you can trigger more quickly and waste less
batteries.

That's the rub, you can't trigger your 580 while it's in master mode with a Pocket Wizard.

So basically if i wanted to trigger the 430EX i would need to go buy another TT5?

That's my understanding. But you don't need another tt5 nessesarily, any pocket wizard should do the trick, depending on ur needs.
