...had the same problem,guy at local camera store showed me an easy trick..................place lens,filter side down,onto a flat grippy material (he used a mouse pad),and while gently presseing down,just give it a twist.Avoid anything that squeezes the sides,as that can make it elliptical,worsening the situation.

Thanks guys, my dad ended up getting it off with small mustache scissors and a rubber glove. Put one side of the lens cap on the rubber glove placed on a counter and then put the scissors in the groove of the filter and push. After some struggle it came loose with no problems except the filter got some paint chipped on the rough part but it worked. I tried the heating and cooling and rubber bands and most of the above suggested things with no luck.

Anyways it came off finally so thank yall.
