I have been pondering a camera upgrade for over a year now. Have a trip to Yellowstone NP end of May so need to make a decision.
I've been eyeing the Canon R5 mark ii or the R6 mark ii. I like to shoot a variety of things but probably lean towards wildlife.
I like the MP on the R5 since it gives the ability to crop. I like the low light of the R6 since a lot of wildlife is seen in early morning late evening.
I have a Tamron 150-600 G2 that I would use, but have considered the Canon 200-800. I think the 200-800 would perform a little better on the R6 since it does a little better in low light. I could use the 150-600 with a 1.4 extender and have almost the same reach and a slightly better f stop on the long end. Would the extender negate the slightly better f stop.
Would appreciate any thoughts and opinions on this. Anything that I might not have thought of?

I shoot an R7 and an R5 exclusively for wildlife. I usually have the RF 70-200mm F2.8 on the R7 and the RF 200-800mm on the R5. I take both rigs, the F2.8 for low light and environmental shots,
and the 200-800mm for most of my wildlife photos.

Yellowstone in May is awesome because the ungulates have given birth and the predators
are attracted to the afterbirth and looking to prey on newborns. Plus the crowds are bad, but not
nearly as bad as June-August. And the days are long....

Since your traveling all that way, consider renting the RF 600mm F4...it cost $13k,
but you can rent it for about $100 per day including insurance (always include the insurance!)

Enjoy your trip!
