Interesting for sure, but my first impression was the the lady standing was peeing on the lady laying down. I am sure that's only water streaming down her body but that thought put me off of the picture.

I tend to agree with the missed-it-by-a-smidgeon group and too much contrast but I also think it bears quite a bit of cropping to remove a lot of stuff that doesn't add.

I count 4 women in the water ( including the one standing)... And love Lew's crop, the left side does nothing for the image.

I think that the technical issues get in the way of the story - and that hurts the picture.
The story would be the same but much more easily enjoyed, if the technical issues of exposure, contrast, etc were better solved.

All art isn't successful.

It looks like a composite, and apparently it is a composite.

I don't generally like things that look like they're a composite, even when they're not

This one is well done, there are no obvious tells. It just has that.. feel. I assume there's some sort of relationship between the two images of the girl, one lying down and one standing, but I am not feeling it.

Technically there's a lot to love here, of course. Artistically, emotionally, it's definitely trying. The photograph is working its ass off to make me feel something, but it's not succeeding, in my case

ETA: I guess the title does tell the story. The image doesn't manage it, the legs don't appear to me to be walking specifically away from the prone figure, and I think the prone figure would benefit from being made translucent, or some other effect which renders it fundamentally different from the legs.

True, but I can place a deflated red balloon on a chair in an art museum and people will stop and wonder. That doesn't necessarily make it art.

This isn't a deflated red balloon, but it seems to be confusing/wonder-inducing (???) simply for the sake of it, instead of being something that is coherent as someone earlier mentioned.

A mysterious story is a great thing, but if that story is so vague and disjointed that it can't even begin to be explained in either literal or conceptual terms; then it's just pretentious and not much more.

I think that it's easy to create something that no one knows the story to and makes people wonder. Brooke Shaden does it all the time, but the difference (as much as I dislike how popular some of Brooke Shaden's assembly line work is) is that many of her pieces have some sort of narrative that can at least be inferred from the aesthetics. Without the poem he gave us, this is just a confusing, almost pretentious photo of a concept that isn't complete without the context of the inspiration...Which I assume is the poem...Maybe not...I don't know...

It's just too...instagrammy for me. If all of the women were laying in the water, I would consider this a much better photo, but with the random person standing up it just loses its credibility (in my eyes) as a storytelling image.

(Also...where exactly do you find all of these naked women? lol

)

That's interesting. There are two beauties in the photo. One standing up and one lying down. Unless you were not aware there was someone else in the water. ;-)

By the way, nice and interesting photo. Would love to see more.

Lol then I don't think you can count. There are four girls in this photo but they are the same girl. Hence on beauty.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I know this is really strange and ambiguous but I'm loving the feedback. I have taken into account the crop and went ahead and did it. Thank you! This was a composite of four photos (one per girl) and was worried that someone may have caught a mistake. The toughest part was to put the other three behind the water splashes.

And every photo I've taken are all good friends of mine
